Species occurring in the Black Sea
Definitions: Regular. A taxon regularly reproducing, feeding and carrying out all its vital functions in a region.
Visitor. A taxon that does not reproduce regularly within a region, but which has been repeatedly, albeit irregularly found within its boundaries.
Vagrant. A taxon which has been known to occur within the boundaries of a region, but only on rare occasions.
Introduced:
- Introduction: the movement, by human agency, of a taxon outside its natural range (past or present).
- Intentional introduction: an introduction made deliberately by humans, involving the purposeful (authorised or unauthorised) movement of a taxon outside of its natural range and dispersal potential.
- Unintentional introduction: an unintended introduction made as a result of a taxon utilising humans or human delivery systems as vectors for dispersal outside its natural range.
- Re-introduction: an attempt to establish a taxon in an area which was once part of its historical range, but from which it has been extirpated or become extinct.
