Description of course: The MSc Programme Marine Biology offers a 2-year full-time course with a high proportion of practical classes, qualification as MSc, a maximum of 20 study places per year, teaching in English language, training in state-of-the-art methodologies by leading research teams, specialisation according to personal interests with a wide choice of specialist courses, lab-rotation in different university departments and associated research institutions, field-trip, excursion or even the opportunity to participate in a research expedition and the flexibility to take courses at universities abroad. The course includes modules on Fundamentals of Marine Biology and Ecology, Multidisciplinary Oceanography, Development of Personal Capabilities and Skills, Marine Ecophysiology, Marine Ecology & Biological Oceanography, Advanced Studies in Marine Biology, Project Development & Implementation, and the Master Thesis.
Duration: 2 years
Facilities: Besides the University of Bremen with its specialised research teams in Marine Zoology, Marine Botany, Marine Microbiology, Marine Chemistry and Physical Oceanography, the associated research institutions Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology and Center for Tropical Marine Ecology contribute to the programme with their excellent research infrastructure and teaching expertise.
Indicative costs: No tuition fee for students living in Bremen during the time of the programme (check for changes).
Conditions for participation: Open for candidates with a BSc degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences or Oceanography. Fluency in English language (level C1) is required.
