Description of course: There are 2 courses: weekend and 9-12 days research. Weekend courses: one day on board on the research sailing vessel covering practical marine survey methods, the second day lectures. 9/12 days research: entirely based on board on the research sailing vessel, helping to undertake a range of monitoring activities. Surveys are mainly aimed at understanding distribution, relative abundance and habitat preferences of cetaceans in the area. Research techniques include a combination of visual and acoustic methods to monitor for cetaceans and photo-identification.
