Description of course
: This project is focused on the study of ecology, status and conservation of bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in the Amvrakikos Gulf. Participants conduct daily surveys in the gulf and adjacent waters with the research boat, working side-by-side with the researchers and contributing to field data collection. They are actively engage in visual surveys, looking for dolphins, sea turtles, birds and other fauna. They contribute to field data collection, such as navigation data, group size, composition and behaviour of dolphins. Back at the field station, they help with the downloading process: data, digital photos and scientific information. Researchers give lectures and presentations about their work as cetacean scientists, and involve participants in informal and friendly round table discussion.
