Description of course: Research conducted since 1991 focuses on the ecology, behaviour and conservation of short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) and common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). Direct involvement in field activities provides all participants with opportunities to obtain first-hand information on dolphin research methods. At sea, participants assist the researchers with data collection. During the afternoon participants will be asked to help researchers in the analysis of the pictures of the dolphins sighted in the sea. Participant will have the opportunity to learn and get used the digital matching. As in all the other activities, participants will be trained both by specific lectures and working side by side with the research team. Participants may discuss with the researchers the various methodologies to gain insight into all aspects of the study
Duration: 6 days Facilities: Two inflatable boats with fibreglass keels (5.8 and 5.2 m). Fully-equipped field station. Room & board at the field station.
Indicative costs: €575-675 including food, depending on period. Special price for students.
Conditions for participation: Age 18+; good level of English; must be able to swim.
