Language: English Description of course: The Adriatic Dolphin Project is the longest study of bottlenose dolphins in the Mediterranean. The standard research procedure includes extensive photoidentification, behavioral sampling and acoustic sampling. Information on dolphin habitat use, association patterns, and reproductive rate are also obtained. Participants actively involved in the daily routine. This includes collecting data at sea, preparation of boat and equipment, logging of data into the computer, preliminary data analysis, preparation of lecture materials and background reading. Participants live with the researchers; they are expected to help in practical everyday jobs such as the preparation of meals or field base maintenance.
Duration: 12 days
Facilities: Inflatable boat. Accommodation at the field station.
Indicative costs: €680-780 depending on period. Special price for students, Croatian citizens and returning participants.
Conditions for participation: Age 18+; good level of English; be in good physical conditions to tolerate hot weather, sun, and long periods on a small boat.
