Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute: Korinthiakos Gulf Dolphin Project

Description of course: The aim of this project is to raising public awareness regarding the value of dolphins and the marine environment, as well as the dangers they face. The course offers to participants the opportunity to meet the four most common species of dolphins of the Mediterranean Sea. Participants and researchers live and work in the field base, while fieldwork is conducted with the programme's inflatable boat. Participants are involved in all the research activities such as: looking for dolphins, identifying the species, counting the individuals, photographing them and logging their course with the aid of the GPS begins. At the field base it's possible to attend lectures, study scientific material and watching video documentaries.
Duration: 7 days Facilities: Accommodation at the field base
Conditions for participation: Age 18+; be in good physical conditions to tolerate hot weather, sun, and long periods on a boat; able to swim
