Call for proposals – Feasibility study and experimentation on the use of drones for Cetaceans monitoring in the ACCOBAMS Area

The ACCOBAMS Secretariat is launching a call for proposals, within the framework of the ACCOBAMS Survey Initiative (ASI) project, in order to conduct a feasibility study on the potential of using drones for collecting data on cetacean distribution and abundance in the ACCOBAMS Agreement Area and to conduct a pilot demonstration activity at small scale.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 13 May 2018.

Chile has the privilege of hosting the 4th International Marine Protected Areas Congress, IMPAC 4, which is held in La Serena – Coquimbo from September 4th– 8th, 2017.

ACCOBAMS Secretariat participates actively to promote two main initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of cetacean conservation measures in the ACCOBAMS area, i.e . the ACCOBAMS Survey Initiative (ASI) to improve knowledge on cetacean abundance and distribution in the whole Mediterranean and Black seas, and the threat-based management approach to revise the map of designated Cetacean Critical Habitats.
